One of my favorite ballads, "Crazy for You" by Madonna was written for the 1985 film Vision Quest. Originally penned for a more notable talent, the movies production team felt a currently hot singer might lend to better box office receipts.
Madonna, at the time was charting with songs "Like a Virgin" and "Material Girl" but she has yet to win over the older audience thus making this project especially important for her. She hoped "Crazy for You" would be her ticket to Adult Contemporary radio as she wanted the world to know she could do other types of music.
"Crazy for You" took down the mighty "We Are the World" from Billboards top spot (4 weeks) which lets you know how hot the song and how hot the artist were.
Radio Rewind is a time machine of sorts; travel back with us as we blow the dust off the old record jackets and remember the forgotten hits and good times past. Be sure to check out my Blog Archive, where you'll find all the songs and commentary featured in weeks past.

One of the BEST love songs ballads of those times! Huge Karaoke song! Everybody TRIED to sing this just like Madonna! I also loved her look then. An oxymoron of "slutty innocence".
Great ballad and song from a "self-promotion" genius.
This song will stay with me forever...that and everything else that made my teenage years great.
Ahhh, JMD, sounds like you may have some good memories associated with this song...perhaps along with a little Pinot Nior, some ricotta salata and a little prosciutto, accompanied with some nice brick oven bread drizzled with olive oil???
First of all in response to (JMD's) post about his teenage years, I wanna throw up!
In reply to Mrsgooch, remember our moderator does not like prosciutto he likes "PRUCITTO"
In reply to the song, no serious opinion either way.
I will say as we come close to the end of this site, it would be nice to see a little homage paid to the reason there even is a site, the reason all artists today can say and do as they wish. The reason for all that is great about music and live performing. The man who is the reason for taking all the heat, broke all barriers, bridged all gaps. The man that paved the way for everyone.
"The King of Rock 'n' Roll"
ELVIS........
The tale of two Goochs ...
Mrsgooch, sweet as pie, I recognize the hidden comedy in her pleasant yet witty reply.
and then the other ..
Tommygooch, as irritating as heat rash.
Elvis wasn't a Trailblazer for pop musicians, everything Tommygooch claims for Elvis truly lies with the BEATLES.
ELVIS - "The King of Karaoke". (Over 50% of his catalog was of songs belonging to others)
longgenius, I must respectfully disagree with your outrageous statement. I am a hard/classic rock guy myself, but I do recognize Elvis, The Beatles and Michael Jackson as true icons...and Metallica, Zep and Sabbath from my world. To call Elvis the "King of Karaoke" is utterly ridiculous!
longgenius, as far as Elvis and the karaoke, let's just say, I know what you mean.
Wow Longgenius...you came out of NOWHERE. We've been waiting for another lurker to come of out their shell. I guess it took such biased disdain for Elvis to do it. There is no argument for you. Sorry you CAN'T appreciate such a great talent.
